When Hunter X Hunter again remade 2011, nothing was same. Everything from head to foot was changed for better. Actually, the graphics were of high level and this had intensified and allowed viewers to get more detailed battles in the anime series.

Hunter X Hunter is a home for some grueling plots and battles. It is only series other than One piece that has left several loose ends for fans to go barmy and bang their heads in desperation. One of them is the death of Mereum.

After the battle between Netero and Mereum, Netero activated the rose bomb which killed him and mereum too got immersed and affected by the bomb. But later with the help of Youpi and Pouf, he regained his old form and came back to life

Youpi allowed his master to consume his life energy and again get back to his old self and fight back.  Mereum hxh for the moment had been wiped out all of his past memories and had almost forgotten Komugi.  But something in him told that he is missing something, more like missing someone. Pouf did his best that mereum doesn’t get his memory back as he does not want him again influenced by a mere human, but his all efforts faltered and Mereum recollected his memories.

So now the answer for the question starts from this point. Actually rose bomb did affect Mereum, he was poisoned by the chemicals that were used to build the bomb and even Merum admitted that he hasn’t much time left in his hands and so he wanted to stay with Komugi in peace and want to die in her arms playing the very game in which he has lost countless times.

Understanding the fact the hunter association allowed this to happen and they also came to the realization that this is the only way in which they could get free from the Ant King.
